Disco Disco Disco

Just received this wonderful little tune in the inbox the other day, thought id share it with y'all, i know its a few days behind the official release, but for those of you who havn't heard of Don Diablo or just didn't know who did that banger 'Disco Disco Disco' here it is, accompanied by a few words from his manager about the official release and what comes next for this floor filler;

'Don Diablo provides DISCO DISCO DISCO madness! While Don Diablo is putting the finishing touch on his forthcoming artist album, he can't stop feeding the dancefloor with heat. 'Disco Disco Disco' comes with hot remixes by Riva Starr, Mowgli & Don Diablo himself and has found supporters in Annie Mac (BBC Radio 1), The Bloody Beetroots, Etienne de Grecy, Steve Aoki, Dave Spoon, Grum, Larry Tee and many others. The release is already featured on the massive 'Smash Your Stereo' compilation album by ONE LOVE in Australia. Grab a copy of Don Diablo's Drive-by Disco Mix and check out the original & other remixes on iTunes / Beatport! 'Disco Disco Disco' is out now through One Love/Sony Music in Australia & New Zealand and through Don Diablo's own Sellout Sessions/Sony Music imprint in the rest of the world.'

Also as an extra special treat, check out this dirty little chiller bootleg from Dizz and Draz;

Until next time dirty dogs,

Dan.

Tiesto & Sneaky Sound System

It’s all coming up roses for our very own Sneaky Sound System. Since heading abroad to try their luck in overseas territories, the electro-poppers have scored a streak of successes including a UK number 1 with Jacques Lu Cont/Stuart Price and securing a slot on the bill for trance legend Tiesto’s enormous Victoria Park concert in London this week.

Well I thought it was a bit of a false rumour, but it would seem as though Tiesto has become quite smitten with his support act and tapped the group for a collaborative single called I Will Be Here that hits radio stations today!

Now for the song itself -- It’s good, euphoric fare as you’d expect from Tiesto, and he’s clearly got the creative smarts to edit Sneaky’s input, saving this track from becoming a cluttered mess like most of Sneaky’s second album turned out to be.

My input, I'm waiting for the dub version...

Hybrid

Hybrid need little introduction in the world of dance music; Mike Truman and Chris Healings have been writing, producing, touring and DJing all over the globe for the best part of a decade and have amassed nearly 250 productions to date. Their big break came back in 1994 when an infamous Hong Kong DJ called Lee Burridge gave a copy of their single 'Symphony' to Sasha, which then went on to be included in his and John Digweed's Northern Exposure compilation

During their album sessions and touring dates, Mike and Chris have remixed a vast array of artists, now totalling over 120, including Alanis Morrisette, Future Sound Of London, Jean Michelle Jarre, UNKLE, Radiohead, REM, Moby, Carl Cox, Crystal Method, BT, Sarah McLachlen and The Orb to name only a few. The live act then embraced a newer rockier sound with the help of the vocal talents of Adam Taylor, Groove Armada's Tim Hutton and guest Peter Hook from New Order.

I'm writing this post especially for the reason that they are at The Chinese Laundry this weekend!! So be sure to catch them!! You will not be disappointed!!

Hybrid @ The Chinese Laundry - Saturday 25th July

Niggaz on Crack.

So... I've been waiting on this for a little while now... and I'm very excited to present to you. Some new shit from Niggaz on Crack. Sydney producer duo Steve Lind (Hump Day Project) and Richard Gallie (Derty Rich) team up to deliver two wicked tech house bombs with bongos a plenty. The Boys are also a part of the infamous troublemakers who I'm sure you, like me, can't get enough of. Have a listen for yourself, see what you think.

Derty Rich is also one half of the Mastermind talent behind MrMeanr (with Zach Cullen 'Club Junque' who was featured earlier this month on the blog), a monthly party at the Chinese Laundry who recently brought in Mightyfools to literally tear the place appart, I was fortunate enough to have been there on the Friday night. The atmosphere was amazing, raw energy overcame everyone in the crowd as the dutch fidget gods graced the decks. The Air conditioning was broken almost immediatly, along with several smoke detectors, the ceiling was dripping with sweat, several holes were punched, mirrors were fogged and dripping, and there wasn't a dry body in the house. Expect the photos from the night to be up soon. 1 word, Unbelievable.

Also one more treat for you coming by way of new remix by an awesome dude (its 100% exclusive and was actually finished yesterday :D) by the name of Barely Legal. Gracing the Sydney club scene for only a short time playing a few gigs around town and even headlining the white room at Oxford Art Factory for the RetroSociety, in a set you can expect to hear everything from Dubstep to hard electro to more downtempo NuDisco. With remixes by him popping up constantly through the sets you can expect to be hearing alot more from this boy wonder on this blog. Here's a taste of the talents with his remix of Deadmau5's 'Then We Stood Still'.

As if that wasn't enough, I also have for you Derty Rich's new promo mix(I know its been around for a while but I always planned on posting it with his new tracks, so, an oldy but a goody)

Enjoy Groovers,

Dan.

Brain Matters!

Its with great privilege to do a post on such great 'young' talent that is seeking into our Sydney clubs, all the way from up north!! I present to you... BRAIN MATTERS!

Central Coast DJs Northie (Vacation Records) and partner Benson are burning up places everywhere they touch with their surgecial hands!! Playing through the streets of Kings Cross, up to Oxford Street, and all the way back home playing in Gosford and even Fitzory! These boys are definitely getting the attention they deserve, and their energetic sets do not go un-noticed!!

Heres a quick bio of the duo!!!

NORTHIE
(www.myspace.com/northie)

Raised on music, sparking with innovation and overflowing with potential – a young Aaron Lee North AKA Producer, DJ and Artist - Northie, has become a succeeding individual in the eyes of his predecessors.
Hailing from the sunny Central Coast of NSW, Northie has quickly caused the not-too-far city of Sydney to feel the boom!

Only 19 years young, Northie has been turning heads with his matured compositions, engineering,
ear-catching scratching and in-key mixing; of which you would find amongst one of his energetic sets.
His versatility to defy the restrictions of ‘house music’ and branch into all kinds of sub-genres, with energy extracted from a punk rock, hip hop & breaks-fed childhood. Despite being able to showcase a tasteful maturity within his music, Northie will make no sacrifice of fun!
He approaches crowds with a simple goal to keep feet dancing and ensure listeners of a not-so-serious party time!
Since his turning of legal age, a year and a half has passed in which Northie has attained more than a few achievements:
He has become the newest member of the internationally acclaimed label Vacation Records,
co-hosted an FM radio show, launched events in his hometown, gained international coverage of his tunes, released handful’s of Originals and Remixes on a bunch of creditable labels, played his first
festival set, formed the super-surgical-party-start
ing Brain Matters Djs and established a national
platform!
With gathered support and recognition from the likes of Bingo Players, The Potbelleez, Mark Trophy, Bass Kleph, Malente, Robb G, Tommy Trash, fRew, Dopamine, Vandalism, Marcus Knight, Miami Horror, Adam Bozzetto, Jeff Drake, Chris Fraser, WoNk, Dj Dan, Donald Glaude, Kid Kenobi, The Shopliftaz, Losty, Signal Drivers, Stereo Heroes and many, many more.. world domination and
a definitely bright future is not far off for Mr. North! So lookout!

sonsmixes)

- a title 19-years-young Benson may be given once witnessed melting the dance floor at your local house party, pool party or bar mitzvah.
This DJ, producer and all round 'top bloke' resides on the sunny Central Coast of NSW, where he has crystalized his poppin' party mash-up, baltimore influenced beach groove vibes.
Already blessing every local Coast club and spanning to Sydney with his divine party presence, after only a year of moving from his home town in Melbourne, where his journey began at the likes of TFU and Playskool.
Benson's ability on the one's and two's ain't all he's known for..
Having recently stepped into the world of production, Benson has already had bloggable success. His bootlegs and remixes have gained recognition and support from the likes of Ajax, Act Yo Age, The Hump Day Project, Gorilla Speakers (Amsterdam), Albacore (USA) and more..
Not to forget his recent remix of what is now the Official iriver 2009 theme "Entwined" by Triple J Unearthed successes' Bipolar Badwise.
Benson has also recently joined forces with fellow Central Coast companion Northie, in their super-surgical-dj-posse "Brain Matters" - who have birthed a series of successful parties, tunes and credibility in their local region.
There seems to be nothing stopping this killer in stereo!

So without telling you too much of how amazing these two really are, if you're in Sydney be sure to catch them at Candy's or The Chinese Laundry. It's been a real honour been able to play alongside them, and you really don't want to miss dancing behind them!!

Laidback Luke & Diplo: Hey!

A brand new release by two massive producers!!

Laidback Luke!

Luke is laidback about everything except music. Named best producer of 2008 by such qualified house maestros as David Guetta, Martin Solveig and Roger Sanchez, and landing an impressive new entry – voted 46 – in DJ magazine’s Top 100 DJs Poll, it’s clear that Holland’s homeboy is on the rise like never before. Laidback Luke (Luke van Scheppingen) was born in Manila, Philippines, but grew up in the Netherlands. He loved guitars, graffiti, hip-hop and house, and soon found a mentor in DJ/producer Dobre (The Good Men, Chocolate Puma). Luke was just a teenager when he began producing music, taking the ‘laid back’ tag from Snoop Dogg’s ‘Gin & Juice’. Invited by the UK’s Pete Tong to complete an Essential Mix on BBC Radio 1, it’s been a long time coming (over a decade now) but Luke’s stratospheric success befits his world-beating talents and is ripe to reach new levels of hotness in 2009!

Diplo!

One thing of which Diplo cannot be accused is being afraid to experiment with new music. With his mash-up mixtapes, he found and created a sound where his musical tastes -- '80s pop, electronica, Dirty South hip-hop, and his major influence, Miami bass music, intersect. Developing a yearning to produce more worldly music, he also began to throw his energy behind the Brazilian youth- and street-based music known as funk carioca (also referred to as baile funk), a derivation of Miami bass music. So, it was no surprise that when he established his own label, Mad Decent Records, around 2005, his first signee was the funk carioca group Bondo do Role. Becoming an internationally recognized artist, Diplo developed a knack for championing new world music that seems natural given his dynamism and boundless musical outlook.

The Big Stef

This is an absolute Gem. Solo's New EP, The Big Stef, Rockin floors since its release, This EP and Solo Are guaranteed to be a massive hit around town, especially given Sydneys new found obsession with Tech House.

After his recent release on Claude Von Stroke's Dirty Bird label, SOLO returns with another Huge release on Mowgli and his own print "Dead Fish". “The Big Stef" takes its epic building sample from a recording of a gothic Russian Choir, with a drop not made to disappoint. Dance floor heavy yet tasteful in his signature way, a great example of the way this guy loves to toy with anything and everything!

The Big Stef remix comes from fellow Dirty Bird producer and one half of Zombie Disco Squad, Nat Self. Taking the track to a later point in the evening, this remix shows why Nat is getting the attention he is right now.

B Side Joga Bola re-touches SOLO's passion for Brazilian drums and Rhythms. Carnival worthy, this track will be a cert for the festival season. With bongos, squeaks and salsa samples over a pounding drum line, its definitely a track made to get people on SOLOs party vibe!

Remix here coming in the filthy form of a Riva Star rechunk. Voted a few months back as one of IDJ mag's top players of the year, Riva twists the track up in only the way he can, with his dirty techy beeps and burps. Beefed up drums and a hypnotic driving bass line complete this EP's in a way Dead Fish is becoming well known for!

It's received praise from all over the shop internationally with radio plays from Jaymo & Andy George - BBC1 radio, Kissy Sell Out - BBC1 radio, Sinden - Kiss fm, Joe Ransom - Kiss fm and Adam K - Kiss fm. But its not only radio thats going nuts for this. DJ's are loving it too;

Aston Shuffle: One of our favourite producers on one of our favourie labels Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet :) Big support on this one

Edu K: omg! where do i start? Solo is def one of my fave artists today! Not to mention that he's probably the best engineer as well! Un-fuckin'-believable! Drums never sounded so fat! This is an EP 2 die 4 - wut? r u kiddin'? Solo, Nat Delf n' Riva Starr? Shiiit! I'll paly this shit 4 months!!! Thanx a whole lot! Edu K

Style of Eye: love it, mad feedback in the club!

Crookers: Love it! We are playn it!

Brodinsky: ALL The Tracks are BOMB. i don't know which i need to choose :) the Riva Starr Chunky chunk is really cool; i'll play a lot. solo is the future.

Axwell: Interesting

Sinden: Every track is great here. I'll probably play Joga Bola the most but The Big Stef is nice too. Remixes are cool too. keep up the awesome music

Andy George: Played The Big Stef on our R1 show, its wicked!!!

Radioclit: good stuff rrr

Hannah Holland: TRIED AND TESTED SMASH ON THE DANCEFLOOR , SOLO DESTROYS ONCE AGAIN....BIG UP !!!

But don't take mine and their word for it, (I've used both original Mixes from the launch in my most recent mixtape, The Tits, Marky Mark used 'em in Technologia Technologia), Check out the video sample.

Tracks:

The Big Stef: 5'53''

The Big Stef ( Nat Self remix ): 5'12''
