Dizz & Drazz: Bass Is The Word

It is with great pleasure to post a very fantastic mixtape produced by my good mates and felow musicians Dizz & Drazz. Having played an extensive amount behind the decks, and putting in quality time inside the studio to produce banging bootlegs for us all to enjoy, these boys are turning heads around the Sydney Dance Industry...

Residing around Sydney clubs and heading to perform interstate this year, the duo have developed into a stellar act and can easily be noted as one of the top Sydney Duos around the Sydney lineups we're witnessing today. Look out for them in 2010!!

A Quick word from the boys...

'Hey Ya'll,We have just finished our exciting new mixtape Bass is the Word, we are really proud of it.. We've tried to keep it an amusing element flowing throughout the mix, by basing it on the "Bird Is The Word" episode of American sitcom Family Guy. Whilst still giving you absolute banging and unreleased tracks for your toes to stay tapping, we think we have kept the transitions fairly cheeky and interesting.

To Twisted Djs and the crowds of Sydney...I Hope You Enjoy!' -

SuSu Bobien: You Don't Know

Strictly Rhythm’s legacy is often narrowly and mistakenly thought of in terms of traditional US house and garage. But ‘You Don’t Know’ really is the soulful gospel diva groove defined, belted out by the talented SuSu Bobien, ex-wife of the equally accomplished singer Kenny, and daughter of Newark, New Jersey, spiritual home of the US garage sound.

DJ Spen lovingly recreates the 1999 favourite with his Tribute Mix, a style that comes and goes but never dies, and adds a fistful of harder groovin’ mixes that follow on seamlessly from SuSu’s more recent Wondrous.

I Hope You Enjoy!

Bart B More: Romane

Sound Pellegrino is now one year old and boy, what a fantastic year it's been. They've spearheaded a new sound and tried to keep things exciting and risky, reach goals step by step, one thing at a time. It's now February 2010 and they are ready to unleash Bart B More's new single, the much anticipated Romane.

Even though he belongs to higher castes of big room royalty, they always felt that they had a lot in common with Dutch dance floor renegade Bart B More. The SP release of Romane proves the feeling is mutual. The dub version of his remix for Curses!'s "The Deep End" on Institubes last year is one of the records that helped define the Sound Pellegrino groove. How can you not admire someone who can remix Martin Solveig, cover CeCe Peniston's "Finally" and make a track with Diplo. When they played together in Paris a few months ago, he dropped an early version of Romane and they stated "This sick pitched-down-accordion-siren-house joint could find a cushy home in Sound Pellegrino" and now behold, the record is done. Romane is an instant crowd pleaser which relies on three simple ingredients: an unforgettable riff, a sick beat, and one of the most seriously earth shattering, body shaking, mind motivating alarm siren that just screams "get up and dance, young hero, it's time to save the world".

Remixing the aforementioned triple threat could have proven tricky, so they carefully assembled a dream list of producers that could take up the challenge, and the magic happened. Truly one of the most perfect remix packages created since the invention of the wheel.

Parisian wonders, Youngunz alumni and overall little rascals French Fries and Bambounou chop up the melody, give it a friendly boogie and then proceed to take it with them to an afterparty in San Francisco curated by the Martin Brothers and a dude wearing a giant bacon strip costume. Sexy, classy, efficient and fun.

Up and coming Dutch producer Rubix takes the essence of the track and beautifully turns it into a crazy giant mariachi fiesta that literally explodes in your ear. Seriously, I don't know if the guy hired a complete Latino horn section to come play this insane melody in his studio but the result is awesome beyond belief. This totally sounds like the house version of Delinquent Habits' "Tres Delinquentes".

Gucci Vump, the infamous top secret duo made up of Brodinski and Guillaume from The Shoes, deliver their first remix since their stellar Sha! Shtil! EP on Sound Pellegrino last fall. Focusing their energies on the siren, just the siren and only the siren, they bring it to a legendary level of ravvy fierce funky house next levelness. Tiësto wishes he was them for real now.

Foreshadowing his forthcoming Sound Pellegrino release, our long time partner, Institubes OG Jean Baptiste De Laubier aka Para One provided a unique take on the original, violently mutating the accordion riff into a killer acid synth line, the exact musical equivalent of Bruce Banner changing into the Hulk.

I Give you..Romane!!

I Hope You Enjoy!!

Nanchang Nancy: Walk With Me

Having mastered the violin that her father had built for her second birthday, at the age of four Nanchang was welcomed into the Royal College Of Music. Mentored by May Fletcher and the renowned Vanacheck, she was hailed as a child prodigy and was soon working the professional circuit making numerous television appearances impressing the likes of Yahudi Menuhin who observed of the budding composer “some people can be taught to put notes together but this girl was born with music in her Soul”.

Her versatile style spans from the Gospel arena where she has performed with Incognito, Nu Colours, WWMT and Beverley Knight. Vocally she has ghosted for several very high profile artists who shall, of course, remain nameless.

With the benefit of this experience Nanchang is now fulfilling her ambition to write and produce songs. Recently she has received commissions from EMI, Windswept Pacific and Universal Music. To date she has written for Haji and Emmanuel, Dab hands, Mark Wilkinson, Steve Mac, The Soulseekerz, Digital Dog, Michael Gray, Phonetic Recordings, Roger Sanchez's Stealth Label, Rob Mello, Agent Greg & Martijn ten Velden.

Thomas Gold: The Button

In the last 12 months Thomas Golds profile has soared skywards, his remix credits reads like a whos who of the global dance scene; Erick Morillo, Robbie Rivera, Paul van Dyk, Roger Sanchez, Alex Gaudino have all had a bit of Gold sprinkled on them. Not forgetting his award nomination for his mix of Delirium Silence and his recent mixes of Pete Griffiths Speak The Secret on Toolroom. He was also recently included in Beatports Rising Stars List this talented DJ/producer is tipped for big things in 2010.

Push The Button takes no prisoners from the very start with a bass heavy pounding kick that reverberates all around; the drum pattern then takes shape creating a sonic boom of gargantuan proportions, whilst an eerily high pitched synth stab with underlying white noise takes control of your senses! In drops the deeply spoken Push The Button vocal creating a moment of clarity before slamming back into the groove. As the track progresses into the drop the vocal loops up to reach an almighty climax, creating an intense build before dropping back in and all hell letting loose. This is guaranteed to cause dance floor devastation.

The Dub mix is equally as impressive pulverizing your brain into submission, this is definitely not for the faint hearted and will go down a storm on those big room sound systems!

Fresh from releasing on Sven Vaths Cocoon imprint as well as his own 1605 label, Slovenian Techno Legend Umeks interpretation ups the Tempo several notches, he delivers a no nonsense full on rolling Techno assault with a nagging bass line and wonky distorted bleeps that will suit all the purists on the more underground floors.

New kids on the block A/D/S/R hail from Brighton, UK and are rapidly establishing themselves on the DJ circuit pricking the ears of some well recognised DJ / producers with their studio skills. Here they turn in a skippy and bouncy interpretation of the original, concentrating on the funky bass groove and toning the vocal down with some chopped up FX. These guys are definitely ones to watch out for in the coming months.

I Hope You Enjoy!!

Hardsoul; Fierce Ruling Diva: Self Religion (Believe In Me)

Its time for a classic!! (A 2007 Classic that is!)

One of the stand-out tracks from Hardsoul’s forthcoming D-Fused & Digital compilation, ‘Self Religion (Believe In Me)’ further demonstrates the Dutch Duo’s talents extend well beyond the DJ booth and threatens to be as big as the rest of their back catalogue. Mark Knight’s mix take’s the package techy and delivers a mix that’s bound to get abused in those late night sets. Mr Penn does the business with his trademark keys, ripping it apart with that classic House sound we’ve come to know and love. This is a classic battle weapon for the dance floor; get on it!!

Enjoy!!

Defected Records continues to celebrate its 10 years In The House with the release of ‘Defected Clubland Adventures Volume 2’ featuring both upfront and classic releases by the world’s biggest and best known international house producers.

Defected Records is the British independent dance music label that has regularly surpassed the majors with its releases and this year it celebrates its tenth birthday. In that time there have been some unforgettable moments such as hitting No.1 in the UK with Roger Sanchez’s 'Another Chance', or the time that Kings of Tomorrow 'Finally' was first played on a dance floor by Sandy Rivera at The Ministry of Sound.

Defected’s early discography reads like a roll call of all the most prolific producers from the late 90's and 00’s. As a label it quickly stamped its signature sound on club culture and developed some of today’s best known producers and DJs. Junior Jack, Bob Sinclar, Sandy Rivera and Masters At Work all grew with the label from the start and helped forge the distinctive soul, funk and disco flavoured groove that was to be later nicknamed the ‘Defected’ global house sound.

Celebrating this landmark the label’s biggest musical moments have been brought together in two commemorative collections with Volume 2 offering a further 46 original and remixed classics from the past decade including tracks by Dennis Ferrer, Sandy Rivera, Soul Central, ATFC, Chocolate Puma and Julien Jabre amongst many others, as well as three bonus mixes from label head and Defected Records founder, Simon Dunmore.

If you’re a dance music lover this album is simply unmissable.
