Reel 2 Real: I Like To Move It 2010

If you don't know 'I Like To Move It' where have you been? One of the most well known dance crossover hits ever, never mind just the '90s, the pinnacle of Reel 2 Real's half-dozen hit career was delivered to an even bigger audience in the naughties thanks to its use in not just one but both Madagascar movies. Untouched since 1994 (there have been countless covers of course, not least by the redoubtable Crazy Frog), we're making up for lost opportunities with a fistful of new versions in a kaleidoscope of styles. Following on from the Sidney Samson remix (released exclusively on Beatport last month), Klaas also goes for an edgier, clubbier mix, while Bart B More adds his distinctive touch and the UK's Virus Syndicate twist up a bizarre new grime/dubstep take complete with new vocals. The US is represented by an electro-rave dub from Floridans Dennis Demens, Mark M and Felipe Kaval and right up in your face versions from Harry Choo Choo vs Erick Morillo. Only Nicola Fasano dares to confront the commercial with a confident mix that plays big with both vocal and musical hooks.

I Hope You Enjoy!!

Angger Dimas: Plastik

If Nasi Goreng, the mash up of rice, egg and vegetables is Indonesia’s nation food dish then DJ and producer Angger Dimas represents Indonesia’s national music dish with his mash up of chopped beats and pumping synths that are topped off with some Dutch inspired spicy sounds!

Hailing from Jakarta 22 year old Angger has been playing guitar since the age of 7 and began his journey into dance music after launching his DJ career just 3 short years ago. Signed to Australia’s mighty Vicious Recordings in early 2009 Angger has spent the rest of the year tuning his craft and making quite an impact in the process! His debut release “Duck Army” was played by the likes of Tocadisco, Joachim Garraud and Laidback Luke, just to name a few - it’s tuff, bleepy, but still jacking sound showcasing the Angger Dimas production and DJ sound. Following this release he teamed up with Vandalism and enjoyed massive international support on his collaboration release "She Got It". Added to the Australian 2010 Ministry Of Sound Annual CD, this track was also dropped by Sebastien Ingrosso as his opening track at the famed “Sensation” event on New Years Eve in Melbourne & regularly features in the playlists of David Guetta, Chuckie, Armand Van Helden, Laidback Luke and even Axwell.

Angger hit Australia & New Zealand in February 2010 on DJ tour with Avicii (Sweden) after constantly rocking the best parties & clubs in Indonesia for the past 3 years. His pumping performances were received with rave reviews and gave him the opportunity to road test forthcoming collaborations with ARIA Nominated DJ/producer Tommy Trash, Ministry Of Sound’s Neon Stereo and stable mate Vandalism.

I Hope You Enjoy... ANGGER DIMAS

Riva Starr: Splendido

Riva Starr is a name that should be very familiar to anyone with an interest in modern house music. Having shot to the top after a string of head turning releases and remixes on some of the most talked about labels, Riva Starr couldn’t be hotter right now. What’s quite remarkable though is how quickly Stefano Miele, aka Riva Starr has established himself so prominently on a DJ/producer circuit that’s notoriously difficult to break into.

If you were able to catch this stellar artist at this years Creamfields 2010, you'll know that his production work is anything but short.

Helvetic Nerds: Mistaken Identity

After their more than succesful Walk On EP released back in march, swiss combo Helvetic Nerds strike back again on their parent Unreleased Digital.

Mistaken Identity is the name of their smashing new single, including the Tribal Sucker remix.

Following tendencies in contemporary progressive house sounds, the original is a pure heavyweight. Rolling and aggressive synths, pumping and driving rhythms, drums fiercely kicking from all sides not letting you find your way out - that is what creates a real monster out of this one.

The Tribal Sucker version, while keeping the main melody and rhythm, delivers not so agressive and clubby drum, but more of a Helvetic unique - "tribalistic" one. This is what are these guys best known for.

PS: For the people out there who don't know who Helvetic Nerds are, they consist of this group:

Dinka, EDX, Chris Reece, Leventina, Daniel Portman, DJ Tatana, Passenger 10, Stanley Ross, Andrew, Rino Cabrera, George F. Zimmer.

Tim Green (TG): Iotan EP

Wooh! Episode No.18 of the marvelous and beloved International Freakshow imprint has its origin in one of the worlds most important cities when it comes to innovative Techno / House music since the very beginning of the global electronic music scene.

It has been sophistically crafted by London based Tim Green himself who is one of those producers that do not turn in a lot of filler tracks. For the most part when "TG" or Tim Green puts something out there, it has a strong sense of character and literally rocks a dancefloor to its core. There are just few artists on the planet that are able to traverse genres and release music for such a wide range of labels, yet still have their own unique sound. Many worlds leading labels have recognized this and so far we can find tracks and remixes that have been coming out of Tim Greens machines on the likes of, Cocoon, Dirtybird, Renaissance, Sci-Tec, and many more. Tims latest strike started to hit the floors in December 09 when his second single with Sven Vaeths famous Cocoon imprint entitled Lone Time came out. And even 4 months later, people go nuts when this housetune is being dropped by artists behind the booth! And while listening to Tim Greens tunes on if-18, one could say that 2010 looks set to be another huge year of growth for him.

The title track Iotan on the A side is not leaving a single question unanswered. The track is deep, funky, melodic and warm the whole way through, constantly guided by a splendid specimen of a bass line! On B1 Tim delivers the evidence, that he truly is a multi-talented musician with Crispy Chairs as he is making you rock on the floor!! Tim shows his more minimalistic techno side, by hitting us hard with this hypnotic groove monster.

Leons remix version of Iotan morphs the title track into another hot n stylish shape. Leon focuses more on the classical house music ingredients and his remix is an absolute stunning enrichment for the record. Leons remix fully fits & together with Tims tunes he is contributing to make this release a complete and proper package that fits for techno heads as well as for all the house freaks among you!

I Hope You Enjoy !!

Moonchild: Girl

This has been a very long awaited post, but I've finally gotten around to gathering all the stuff together to put it out there for the IHYETS Fans!

It is my pleasure to publish to you, a swell DJ acquaintance of mine, MOONCHILD.

A quick Bio from his Myspace, that I think you should all read:

Antoine 'Moonchild' began his musical journey at a very young age, in a magical place called the 1980’s - but he pinpoints his first electric guitar in 2000 as the moment when it all started to crystallise. Jamming in his room, learning to play his punk/hardcore favourites and dreaming of a time when he could melt faces like the pros filled this kid with a burning desire to chase international superstardom that was his true calling. People always say rockstars make the best DJs - and this guy is no exception to the rule.

Leaving his home of Fantasia, he crossed New Caledonia, France, Dubai and Egypt on foot before arriving in Australia, where he made a beeline for the beatmakers, befriending DJ’s and producers and completing an audio engineering degree. It was mere months after his hands first hit the decks that he was playing in clubs, supporting the likes of Steve Aoki, Boys Noize, Wolfgang Gartner and Jack Beats, to name but a few, under his ridiculous electro alter ego "Dorkatronique."

Now, reborn as Moonchild, Antoine can be found in Sydney’s best parties pumping out his own blend of nu-disco, filtered french house and deliciously danceable club bangers. With quality original productions about to be released, remix requests flooding in, and a DJ show packed with more win than a fusion powered mecha ninja with an arm canon that fires T-Rexes, it’s no wonder Moonchild is blowing up like a software programmers girlfriend!!

For the Sydney fans, be sure to catch Moonchild at his EP launch, on the 8th May!

> Transit Bar (Free Entry!!)

> With support from Offtapia, Deckhead, and many more!

EDX: Hoover

Productive and successful for more than a decade, Italian native artist, producer, DJ and multi-talent EDX first hit peoples radars in 1994 with various mix tapes that within weeks had circulated around the globe. With his new found fame EDX quickly climbed up the ladder of recognition with labels and producers asking him to sprinkle his remix magic touch onto their releases.

EDX's remix CV is impressive to say the least with remixes on the likes of Deadmau5, Mary J Blige, Bob Sinclar, Axwell, Armand van Helden, Steve Angello, Roger Sanchez, Laidback Luke, Armin van Buuren, Kool & The Gang, Kaskade, Funkagenda, Lauryn Hill, to name but a few.

2009 saw his remixes consistantly feature in the various charts such as the DMC Buzz, Cool Cuts and Beatport charts which culminated in him featuring the TOP 3 for Beatport’s Best Progressive House Artist of 2009 alongside Deadmau5 and Eric Prydz.

EDX’s crazy DJ schedule has taken him around the World and back again playing to crowds in excess of 60,000 where you would hear his remixes/productions also being played by the likes of of David Guetta, Armand Van Helden, Erick Morillo, Armin van Buuren, Swedish House Mafia, Roger, Sanchez, Axwell, Deep Dish, Michael Gray, Alex Gaudino, Tiesto Etc..

With his star already shining The EDX success story looks set to soar in 2010 with productions/remixes coming out on various labels.

COOPA: Bootlegs!

(Photographer: Laura Montana 2010)

Finally I've decided to make my bootlegs and put them up onto the blog for the fans to grab!!

Here's a short bio (Edited by A. Devi Shakya)

Cameron started his musical finesse at the age of seven, playing brass instruments and piano. Through his early music years as a teenager, Cameron was in and out of various rock bands, playing at high-school competitions, gigs throughout Sydney and even getting as far as getting a Sony/BMI contract and supporting Grinspoon at the Hard Rock Cafe in Sydney. His well educated status as a guitarist/pianist has given him a great advantage to move towards the dance scene and to use his knowledge to create great versatile sets and productions, branching well out from house music and mixing in a range of Electro-House, Tech House, Progressive House and even Trance, no set lacks substance when COOPA gets to hold the floor. His motivational goal, to get the crowd to feel the exact emotions running through him, which is what, makes COOPA such a quick successor in the music industry.

Currently studying at Australia’s premium university for music, The Australian Institute of Music, Cameron’s education includes the most accredited and fundamental techniques of Composition and Music Production, with Film/TV Producer Greg White, Scott Saunders, and Hip-Hop DJ Sensation Nick Toff. He has already started bringing out near-polished remixes and his original productions are on their way.

His current monthly mixes; COOPA: Sessions has been a fantastic success, running for over two years, has produced creditable feedback from American DJ Darryl Von Rokk, US Radio website InSoulWeTrust, Blog website engine Hype-M, and several of Australian Djs/Producers.

Nastala: Crazy (Video)

In todays current music scene, it is rare to find an artist who not only has the ability to write unique and forward-thinking songs, but who also has a voice that seems to fuse with the track with effortless ease...unless your name is Nastala.

Growing up in the electronic capital of Detroit, Nastala began writing and singing from an early age and eventually captured the attention of electro house big gun, Chris Lake. Once in the studio the pair soon became a winning formula, achieving chart-topping global success with tracks Only One and If You Knew. Nastalas sexy, funked-up vocals soon became heavily in demand, opening many doors in the industry as a singer/songwriter, including being asked to write for massive dance legends Tiësto and Armin van Buuren. Nastala's early success at the
heights of the dance music community gave her a fantastic foundation to move forward and guided her towards working with acclaimed songwriters Biff Stannard (Kylie Minogue / The Spice Girls) and Jonas
Quant.

Now unleashing her debut single, Crazy is everything you could wish for in a bona fide electro-pop anthem. 'Crazy' was produced by Chris Lake and mixed by respected engineer Ash Howes (who has previously worked with Little Boots and Dido) with additional production from good friend Deadmau5 on drums and guitar.

The Crazy video was designed & directed by Andy de Vries at Mighty ELK

Kissy Sell Out: Garden Friends

For they Sydney fans who were lucky enough to witness his amazing (and fast cd changing) set last Saturday night at HOME the venue, here is his lasted release!!!

Here is the latest interview, done by In The Mixes Dave Ruby Howe:

There’s a few things you need to know about Kissy Sell Out. Other than his heavyweight profile as one of the UK’s primary electro proponents with his on BBC Radio program and artistic other life, the man born Thomas Bisdee is a intensely charismatic with a likeable, affable nature on display at all times. He likes to laugh a lot. And despite being a party starting DJ, he has an intriguing thoughtful and introspective side to his persona.

When ITM’s Dave Ruby Howe caught up with the livewire deck hand to talk about his March club tour and new album Youth, all these qualities shine through.

Hey mate, how’re you doing today?

“All good man, just getting ready to do this Australian tour soon.”

Good to hear it, I know there’s some people pretty excited to see you return after your visit for We Love Sounds last year.

“Oh good, we had a lot of fun doing that festival. But, you know, I think when I came out to Australia last year and I brought the full band it was probably too soon to do that. It was a bit weird to be playing these songs that hadn’t actually been released yet!”

Yeah I always thought that was an odd decision since your album Youth has only now just come out in Australia.

“Well, we can only know that now in hindsight! But we did have a really fun time and played some great shows then. This time though I’m excited for the record to be out there now and to be there in the clubs. I’m really just loving DJing right now.”

In the current climate where anyone can download an album online and geography isn’t as important for a CD release, it’s almost as if we did get the record back then, because we could access on the internet if we wanted.

“Yeah, you know I think that’s really cool. Not that I’m supporting illegal downloading but I would be happy that people would just be interested in it. And then if they want to support the artist then they can buy because I think that’s the best thing about being a listener. I mean, I get the biggest bloody mailbag full of promos every single week, but I always find I appreciate and enjoy music more when I’ve actually gone out and bought it myself. I get the biggest buzz out of that because I’m a fan and I’m always looking for and collecting new stuff.”

Since it was released last year in the UK and completed even earlier than that, are the songs on the record old to you now?

“No I don’t think it will ever be, because it’s about something that’s very personal to me, it’s about my childhood. If it wasn’t about something, if it was just made to try and be cool then I probably would be over it all. I’m actually really glad it’s coming out over there now because I get to talk about it again and get into it all. I’m interested to see how it will go with you guys because it’s quite strange for a dance record, really.”

How so?

“Well, I realised when it was realised in the UK just how different it was. It’s such a personal record and to have that as my debut album, well, I don’t think people were really expected that.”

Yeah I did notice from a few lessons that it actually feels very complete, like it’s not just a bunch of singles slapped together, it’s a full story with a beginning, middle and end. I think in the current climate where things are so easily accessible and disposable, that’s a brave move – especially on for a debut LP.

“It certainly felt that way for me, and when the initial critics’ reactions came in you could tell that some people just brushed it off and dismissed it. I guess it was naïve of me to think that I could make something like this, make it so personal and have people get it. But having said that I’m really proud of what I did with it, I love everything about it right down to the cover art.”

Speaking of critics, I read a particularly savage review of the album in the NME. That wasn’t very nice!

“[Laughs] That was a very funny review, it was hysterical!”

I’m glad you’re laughing about it because I don’t know how I would feel about that if I were you.

“Yes sure, I mean obviously it was quite hurtful, but the NME has a reputation for being really bitchy, and I think that they went out of their way to slag me off. It was funny though because I think they called it something like ‘self-indulgent, neon-slattered electro pop’ and that is basically what I do. I didn’t really see a problem with that!”

Have you got plans to release a follow-up to Youth at all? Something that tracks the next chapter of your life?

“Yeah I have been working on a new record that at the moment has the working title of Family, which is about me growing up and moving on with my life. It’s going to be different to Youth in a lot of ways, I think it’ll be nearly all instrumentals on there and I’m going to try not to worry about what other people think and just get it all done.”

Milk & Sugar: Let The Love Take Over

3 years in a row Milk & Sugar have managed to climb on top of UK´s most important Music Week club charts. They rocketed to no.1 in 2008 with "Stay Around", the following year with "Let The Sun Shine", and just recently, 2010, with their last single "You Got Me Burnin'".

No doubt, Milk & Sugar´s new release will gain again excellent results and make it´s way into the cases and CD maps of DJs all around the globe. With their new single "Let The Love (Take Over)" the Munich duo has again skillfully intertwined their typical house grooves with the soulful voice of Ayak, who is well known for delivering a dynamic, energetic vocal performance.

The two producers behind Milk & Sugar look back after 13 years, since the founding of the label, to a long and successful career, which in their capacity as DJs, have sent them to some of the most remote places in the world. Not forgetting their big hits such as "Higher & Higher", "Love Is In The Air", or "Let The Sunshine. Milk & Sugar have played practically everywhere as DJs, brought out tracks on nearly all popular labels and have even assisted world-famous stars such as Janet Jackson or Jamiroquai by re-mixing their songs into danceable versions.

My only opinion, could've created a title that wasn't so similar to the French House Superstar...

I Hope You Enjoy!
