Northie: The New Mix + Remixes

- DJ / Producer
- House/Tech/Electro/Party Jams
- Based on the Central Coast, NSW. Australia
- Vacation Records / Jam Music Agency / Here’s Johnny! Promotions

My favourite Central Coast Producer/DJ is back with exciting new remixes and a brand new Promo mix for all of you to enjoy!!

Northie’s potential first seeped into the scene in 2005 through Fbi FM’s “Underage Sets” – an under 18’s dj competition in which he succeeded as a finalist 3 years in a row.
Since his turning of legal age, a year and a half has passed in which Northie has attained more than a few achievements:
He has become the newest member of the internationally acclaimed label Vacation Records,
co-hosted an FM radio show, launched events in his hometown, gained international coverage of his tunes, released handful’s of Originals and Remixes on a bunch of creditable labels, played his first festival set, formed the super-surgical-party-starting Brain Matters Djs and established a national platform! From regularly gracing Sydney’s hottest spots such as The Chinese Laundry, Candy’s Apartment and Moulin Rogue, to being flown across vast lands: Signing CDs after tearing apart Ambar in Perth, packing a sweaty ally party at Melbourne’s Eurotrash, and headlining a completely rammed Saturday night in Fortitude Valley’s Monastery Nightclub, Brisbane.

With gathered support and recognition from the likes of The Potbelleez, Bass Kleph, Malente, Tommy Trash, fRew, Dopamine, Vandalism, Marcus Knight, Miami Horror, Jeff Drake, Chris Fraser, WoNk, Dj Dan, Donald Glaude, Kid Kenobi, The Shopliftaz, Losty, Signal Drivers, Stereo Heroes and many, many more.. world domination and a definitely bright future is not far off for Mr. North! So lookout!

John Dahlback: Autumn EP

John Dahlback returns to Defected following a summer of grafting, both in the studio and at his Ibizan residency with his new, aptly named EP, ‘Autumn’. These are the first tracks taken from his forthcoming album due to drop in early 2010 right here on Defected and as you’d expect the Swede delivers a powerhouse of an EP demonstrating both diversity and skill. ‘Autumn’ is a peaktime, synth-lead beast, whilst a string lead ‘Valleybrook’ provides even more muscle to a release that feels like it’s on musical steroids.

Please support this EP at Beatport!

To the Aussie fans, make sure you catch John Dahlback this year at Stereosonic 2009!

I Hope You Enjoy!

Pete Griffiths: Speak The Secret

Travelling the world with the cream of the Toolroom roster, Toolroom Knights resident DJ Pete Griffiths now has his sights set firmly on the studio.

Fresh from the success of his remix of Matt Samuel’s “Enjoy the Silence”; Toolroom's rising star Pete Griffiths delivers a superb debut single 'Speak The Secret' for the label, featuring the vocal talents of the delicate yet formidable Neve.

A strong contender for one of this year’s true anthems; 'Speak the Secret' has a magnetic quality with a progressive melody that captivates inside the first minute. The perfectly formed bassline, sweeping intro and lamenting main riff all interconnect to create something truly transcendental, leaving Neve's mesmerising vocals locked in your mind for hours.

The release package also includes remixes from some of the world’s finest DJ/producers including Mark Knight & Funkagenda, Tocadisco, Thomas Gold & eSQUIRE, each delivering their own take on the original to cater to all floors.

PLUS Drum & Bass legends 'Tension' deliver one of their finest remixes to date with an explosive DnB take on Speak The Secret!

Early support on the release comes from a host of A list names including Axwell, Mark Knight, David Guetta, Steve Angello, Pete Tong & more…

I've taken five tracks, two from one disk and three from the other that I felt would stand out as representing exactly what the Defected brand is all about. The comp is out on 26th October 2009.

Wax Motif: Conga Junk

The Electronic/Hip-Hop DJ from Surry Hills, Sydney is pushing up further and further into the hype of the Producing world and is spinning heads at a 360 with remix after remix and soon to come, the Conga Junk EP!

Growing up in the 90s, Wax had a healthy appreciation of the styles of music that were shaping that decade - from the ever-evolving sounds of Trance to the 'up yours' attitude of Gangsta Rap.

At the age of 19, Wax purchased his first set of turntables, and immediately began collecting copious amounts of music. Careful never to skew his commitment to one particular style, Wax built up a repertoire of different styles using Baltimore Club, Baile Funk, Breakbeat, Hip-Hop, DnB, Electro, and Fidget House. It was his choice that ensured he would not be pigeon-holed like so many other DJs, and became the defining inspiration for the DJ we see in him today.

In 2007 Wax Motif made his mark, transcending the boundaries of style and genre, all while succeeding in making each on as unique as possible. Wax motif revelled in his new found passion, producing quality sets covering an array of musicical styles and genres, having the ability to fit it all together like a jigsaw puzzle, right down to the last beat.

Now a radio presenter for Frequency on Sydney's infamous community radio station, FBI 94.5fm, and also the official DJ for groundbreaking hip-hop cover artist, Snob Scrilla, Wax has no plans of stopping having already supported such International acts as; Stanton Warriors, Sinden, A-Trak, Tittsworth, Kid Sister, Sam Sparrio, Stupid Fresh, Surkin, Fred Falke, as well as a host of others.

Now, with his productions ready to blossom, gaining support already from artists as Chew Fu [Brooklyn Zoo Records], Act Yo Age and our friend Ajax [Sweat it Out Records]. Watch out for his upcoming releases, its sure to impress...

I Hope you Enjoy..Wax Motif.

Deadmau5: For Lack of a Better Name

One of the best things about Deadmau5 is the DJ has a sense of humour...

Unlike some of his best-selling, much-hyped music making counterparts who seem to take themselves way to seriously, Toronto's Joel Zimmerman wears a giant mouse head in public (instead of a sleeveless tops and sunglasses) and creates house music with character!!

Case in point: For Lack Of A Better Name. Don't get me wrong, this isn't joke music like Felix Da Housecat or even Mr. Oizo. This is completely relevant, seriously danceable shit, but there's something lighthearted about the way he uses disco-styled orchestral flourishes, organs and thwamping bass lines that make this album such a great party.

The only questionable move here is his change of direction mid-album, where Deadmau5 slips into Euro-minimalist progressive house. For Lack Of A Better Name lulls at that point, but thankfully picks back up with the epic 10-minute final track (Strobe). It's hard to believe such quality house is coming out of Toronto. But then again, it's been happening quite a lot lately...

'There's more to this mouse than housey-techno cheese...'
- Kitty Empire, The Observer.

To all the Australian viewers out there, please, please make sure you catch Deadmau5 in action this year at Stereosonic 2009!!

These are my three favourite tracks from the album, I hope you enjoy!!

(Note: This is sample music only. We do not have the permission to even give 192kbps quality of this album release. Please purchase this album at Beatport)
