MINDGUTTER!!? Seriously though...

Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, it is with the greatest pleasure that I hope you do Enjoy the Show this week delivers to you Mindgutter.
It was unfortunate that before 2 weeks ago i hadn't seen these guys play before, nor had i heard much about them, a group of mates and I were floating around the cross, late at night after a few too many jagers, beers and scotches, we found ourselves stumbling down into Candy's apartment. The duo began to play, and i must say, I'm not usually a dancing man, but i couldn't stop i was curious as to what was happening to me, i wasn't sure what was going on, it was all very strange to me. I looked up from directly next to the speakers and noticed a boy and a girl behind the decks, at that point i saw them charging, absolutely going all out 100% and they were fucking killing it, they had the party going, they were in control. I soon realised upon looking around that i wasn't the only one who couldn't help but move. The crowd was on strings and they were the puppeteers, taking us for a bumpy roller coaster ride through hard funk, bangin' bass lines, quirky electro and dirty fuckin dubstep, the place was swinging, jumping, grooving and at some point I believe I saw the roof being raised.
Needless to say i was impressed by this, so i may have (really... may have...) facebook stalked them, turns out the young lady in our company that night was a friend of theirs, so without too much creepy facebook friends page browsing I had found them. I expressed my gratitude to them for the incredible friday night and asked them if I could feature them for the blog. They agreed after a little persuasion, and they told me a little bit about themselves, agreed to an interview and to letting me snap some pics of them playing at Retrosociety's party at O.A.F. which as I expected was as brilliant if not even better than the set at Candys.
So look, they're incredible guys, Anna Suraev and Telly Maragopoulos are Mindgutter and here's how the interview went down,

What made you guys want to be DJ's?
Well, back in our uni days we used to go out clubbing all the time and just dance around like crazy and get all this energy whenever a Dj rocked a set or played some song that made the whole room shake. The idea of getting other people to feel that intense energy is exactly why we wanted to become Dj’s. We wanted to make people to go crazy and lose their shit to our music just like we did all those years.

What, to you, is the best thing about being a DJ?
That feeling you get when you drop some jaw-breaking track and every person in the crowd have their hands flying above their head uncontrollably, just bouncing around like they have lost all control of their limbs. We are natural extroverts so getting a crowd to react to our set like that is such an addictive feeling.

How long have you been doing this for?
Well, now that you ask, its Mindgutter’s 2 year anniversary is coming up on the 17th of June…awwwwww. It was on that date 2 years ago, during that fateful evening the night before a very important Behavioural Neuroscience half yearly exam, that we avoided studying and instead spent hours discussing every detail of our upcoming Dj future. And man, thinks have happens so fast for us. We actually both wear a matching ring with that date on it. AND I know what you’re thinking.. we are not boyfriend and girlfriend!……Eww.

Are you planning on taking it further than the clubs (producing, recording...)?
Hells yes. It’s like a natural progression for many Djs. You spend all your free time hunting around music blogs for that distinct sound that you love and can’t get enough off, and then a time comes when you just want to make your own rather than search for it. Speaking of, we have our very first EP coming out on the 4th of July…..so stay tuned.

Where can we catch you doing your thing?
Your Mum’s house. If not there, we are usually supporting some sexy big names at the fortnightly parties held at Oxford Art Factory by The Retro Society. We also get a chance to play at some pretty ace venues such as Candy’s Apartment, Moulin Rouge and Chinese Laundry. Check out our Mypace so that you can stalk us better.

In 3 words describe your sound.
Hot, Noisy Blowjobs.

Best gig you played and why?
Hands down, playing at the launch of Retro Society with Bag Raiders had to take the cake. We were dripping with sweat, the ceilings were dripping with sweat, and we got to drop S Club 7. It was GLORIOUS!

At the moment, what are your Top 5 most loved tracks you don’t leave home without?
  1. Mustard Pimp – Valium
2. Tiga – Shoes (Beni Remix)
3. Bloody Beetroots – Warp 7.7
4. The Brash – H Muet (Jokers of The Scene Remix)
5. Bird Peterson - Zutopong

Thank you guys, once again Anna and Telly, you are amazing and we love you. Now... These two have been exceedingly generous to me and have given me a little mix of their to put up here as well, I'm sure you all will have as much fun listening to it as I did. It goes like this.

Anyway, exclusively on my little blog here are the photos from the evening at the Fart Factory, sweaty, dirty, electro fun. One can see from the crowd that this was an event not to be missed,

Those two events are happening this weekend so if you want to get in there you gotta do it quick, or you'll find yourself bored out of your brains both nights, honestly, its just not a party without Mindgutter.
So all in all this has been the longest post i've ever done, its been an amazing week, stay tuned for more info on Mindgutter hot off the press, future gigs, new livesets, blah blah blah, its all happenin and you heard it first here.
